welcome.

Hello and welcome to my photoblog. I am delighted to have you here! This blog serves as a way of sharing my most recent photo sessions with clients and their family and friends, and is also the first place to hear recent announcements about the studio as well as special blog-reader only discounts.

I am a primarily natural light portrait photographer based out of Madison, Wisconsin. My focus is on babies, children and families, although I also love to shoot a limited number of weddings per year. My portrait sessions take place entirely on location -- either at your home or at another location around Madison. I love to explore new places, so I'm very open to your suggestions. And of course, I have some favorite spots that I'm always ready to explore again as well.

In addition to my blog, please also check out my main website (it is the "my website" link on the menu above). If you have any questions or would like to book a session, please click on the "contact me" link in the menu above to send me an e-mail. Thanks again for stopping by, and please enjoy your visit!

style.

My approach toward photography is deceptively simple: catch real moments of your children really being themselves. Silly giggles, sweet kisses from mommy, tickles from a big sister, laughing while watching doggie run through the park... These are the moments that make up real life. These are the moments from childhood that pass by all too fast. And these moments, to me, are where the real beauty of childhood resides. The same philosophy governs my approach to wedding photography.

My style is largely photojournalistic and non-obtrusive, while at the same time I am always working to create beautiful and lasting memories of life as it unfolds. The most common words used to describe my photographs are the ones I have chosen as the tagline for my studio: Modern. Fun. Real. Life. People often comment that my photographs have a sense of warmth and emotion to them -- which I consider the highest compliment possible.

Let it snow?

We had hints a while back of an early spring, or at least an end to the piles of snow that accumulated in January. I even went out without a jacket several times, and saw some dudes walking around with shorts on (they were probably nuts, but still…) After this past Friday/Saturday, it looks...

Mini sessions, reprise.

I finished up editing the mini session photos today. It took me a bit longer than I originally expected, mainly because I had a couple of unexpected newborn sessions that popped up in the meantime. So thank you to everyone for your patience! I want to tell you a little story, but in order to...

She’s not a model…

… but I honestly think she could be one. Or maybe an actress. Her eyes are some of the most soulful I have ever seen. I’ve been finishing up the mini session photos (should mail them tomorrow!) and will be posting a few more over the next couple of days. I have several of this...

Let’s talk about the design part.

Some of you might be aware that the formal name of my business is CaseyBower Photography & Design, LLC. Most often I mention my photography here on my blog, but I did want to draw attention to the design element of it as well. Where this most often comes into play is with things like...

The many faces of Miss K.

Time for photos of a sweet little baby who is not quite as teeny tiny as some of the last few babies I’ve shared with you here. This is little K, who is just over 5 months old. She is one of my Baby Sprouts babies, and I was so excited to see her again...

Appearance on Weddingbee!

One of my brides from last year, the fabulous Kelly, e-mailed me today to let me know that she and her also fabulous short dress/green shoes had been featured in today’s Weddingbee. I squealed out loud a little bit when I read that. How fun! Weddingbee is a great little website full of the latest...

Another sweet newborn.

Time for more newborn pictures! This is the last one I have to post for a while (unless one of you readers out there is expecting a baby in the near future… in which case please e-mail me!). Sweet Mr. J was a delight to work with. He was a bit skeptical at the beginning...

Winter baby.

Time for more photos of C, the cute little girl in the green hat from the teaser I posted a few days ago. I’m sure I mentioned it already here, but it really has been a newborn bonanza for me lately. I guess some of that has to do with the fact that I’m not...

A bit of information about photography.

One of the most frequent questions I hear from people concerns what digital camera they should buy. Back in the day, when my son slept more often, I wrote a little article on my personal blog giving recommendations on cameras and photography in general. It was pretty well received. Unfortunately, the digital camera industry moves...

Mr. Man.

I’m delighted to share a bit more extensive peek at the photos of Mr. L — remember that sweet and contemplative baby from the teaser that I posted the other day? Here are a few more photos of this adorable little man. This session took place in my natural light studio… and this family...
